IceFrog walk-out to Pendragon's Dota-Allstars site

Looks like there's internal conflict once again among the DotA AllStars community. And this time, Icefrog is pissed at the current DotA AllStars community website. As a result of some differences, I am no longer affiliated with the dota-allstars.com website. I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone over there the best of luck in the future.
I still plan on continuing DotA development for a long time, a couple years at the very least. The next update, 6.60, is nearing the end of its design and testing phase. The translation phase will also be starting shortly. There is still a little bit more work to do on fixing some specific content, but it's finally approaching completion. I will post another update here in the near future.
As of today, I am starting a new community site for DotA. I think it is more valuable to the players though if I focus most of my time on developing and improving the game, so I'm here to reach out and ask for help on this. I believe that with some organization, the community has some very talented people that can help build a site to serve their interests and needs. Help can come in many different forms: programming, design, technical support, content contributions, etc. My goal is to have a format where everyone that wants to help can contribute in a productive way. If you are interested in being involved, please send me an email at IceFrog@gmail.com

Jin'zakk Batrider

Once an expendable spy, Jin'zakk has outlived the suicidal tendencies of other Bat Riders to create a unique style, one that favours control and precision instead of wanton destruction. His years of battle experience have allowed him to innovate creative uses for his fiery arts: He can douse enemies in a bath of sticky oil that restricts their movements before igniting it, fire an explosive that blows enemies away, or take flight to leave behind a trail of flame. However, his most deadly skill involves lassoing his opponent and dragging the unfortunate foe into the arms of his allies.

Sticky Napalm
Targets an area and drenches it in oil. Slows the movement speed and turn rate of units in that area. Extra casts of this on the same targets stacks.

Any fire damage from batrider will ignite the napalm, dealing damage for each stack.

Fire damage is any regular batrider attack, flamebreak or firefly

AOE: 375
Damage: 10/15/20/25
Slow: 3/5/7/9%
Turn rate reduction: 30%

Lasts 7 seconds (refreshes on hit)
Stack max: 10

Flame Break
Hurls a highly explosive cocktail of dangerous chemicals at the target position. Upon impacting with an enemy the missile explodes, dealing damage and knocking all nearby foes away from the impact. Any unit who has been Napalmed will take additional damage from the blast.

Knocks back all units in the explosion area proportionally to how far they were from the center

Damage: 75/150/225/300
Max knockback: 400
Explosion AOE: 375
Detection AOE: 100
Damage: 75/150/225/300
Travel Distance: 1600

Manacost: 80/100/120/140
Cooldown: 11

Firefly

Flies high leaving a burning trail behind. Enemies who dare follow will get burned by the fiery napalm. Nothing can take the skies from him.

Trees in your path are killed by the fire.
Gives you flying pathing

Damage: 20/40/60/80 per second
AOE: 200
Spell Duration: 15
Pathing: Flying

CD: 40
Manacost: 100

this skill allows you to burn anything in your path and enable you to goes through unpassable terrain.

Flaming Lasso (Ultimate)
Snags a target with a constricting lasso, allowing the Batrider to drag them behind him as he moves.

Does not drag units over cliffs or impassable terrain.

If you use TP or blink away or get ported away, the lasso breaks.

Cast Range: 175
Bind Range: 300
Manacost: 150
Cooldown: 130/90/50
Duration: 3/3.5/4

this skill is like Rhasta's shackles but the difference is flame break is not channeling you can even move around and drag your victim anywhere. In the Beta version you can even use Town Portal while you lasso your enemies and drag him to the base .but in the release TP or blink cancel this spell.

DOTA 6.65 loadscreen changes

In 6.65 version of dota allstar, Kunkka the DOTA loadscreen artist announced that there will be an updated version of the loadscreen. He said changes will be based on cosmetics and some Dota fan arts. kunkka also made a smoking fan art of traxex, The Drow Ranger.

here is a quote from kunkka@playdota:
Hey guys,

just letting everyone know that the next version will have an updated loadscreen. edits are mainly cosmetic, nothing major. so look out for it in the next release..

Also, I finally got to painting single heroes of DOTA, (epic battles are way too tiring ) which are much more fun to do.
Who better to kickstart it than Traxex the Drow Ranger.
She is one of the most iconic heroes in Dota. also partly due to Icefrog's unhealthy obsession with her...
(haha, just kidding Ice)

Looks like Dota 6.65 changelogs will have a slight changes and great surprises. . . So watch out for the release and it will be posted here.

All About DOTA!!

Dota stands for Defense of the Ancients. Dota is not game itself; it is a multiplayer map on Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. But because of its fame and ample differences with the rest of the game, this map is often considered an entirely separate game itself rather than just a map in The Frozen Throne.

The scenario was developed with the "World Editor" of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, and was updated upon the release of the expansion, The Frozen Throne. There have been many variations of the original concept; the most popular is DotA Allstars, which has been maintained by several authors during development. The current developer is known by his pseudonym as "IceFrog", and has been developing the game since 2005.

Since its release, Allstars has become a feature at several worldwide tournaments, including Blizzard Entertainment's BlizzCon and the Asian World Cyber Games, as well as the Cyberathlete Amateur and CyberEvolution leagues; Gamasutra declared that DotA was perhaps the most popular "free, non-supported game mod in the world".

Because the gameplay revolves around strengthening individual heroes, it does not require one to focus on resource management and base-building, as in most traditional real-time strategy games. Killing computer-controlled or neutral units earns the player experience points; when enough experience is accumulated, the player gains a level. Leveling up improves the hero's toughness and the damage it can inflict, and allows players to upgrade their spells or skills. In addition to accumulating experience, players also manage a single resource: gold. The typical resource gathering of Warcraft III is replaced by a combat-oriented money system; in addition to a small periodic income, heroes earn gold by killing hostile units, base structures, and enemy heroes. This gives rise to a technique called last hitting, which is when the player attacks a hostile unit when "its hit points are low enough to kill it with one blow". Using gold, players buy items to strengthen their hero and gain abilities. Certain items can be combined with recipes to create more powerful items. Buying items that suit one's hero is an important tactical element of the scenario.

Allstars offers a variety of game modes, selected by the game host at the beginning of the match. The game modes dictate the difficulty of the scenario, as well as whether people can choose their hero or are assigned one randomly. Many game modes can be combined (for example, an easy difficulty level and a random hero pick), allowing more flexible options.

Here are some things to remember

First thing you need to do in playing Dota;
* If your a beginner, always remember the attribute of your hero. Strength, Agility and intelligence are the three main type attributes of your hero. Actually you will know if your hero is a strength type or agility based on which stat is the highest.

* In 5v5 game your money will basically start at 600 gold make sure to buy basic items. Basic items include ironwood branch-it gives +1 to all stats, boots of speed-it increases the movement speed to +50 but i don't prefer buying boots of speed in 5v5 game since it cost 500 gold.

* Some items combined together make more powerful items. These combinations are called recipes. Later in the game you will start buying recipes, which are found at the other shops. To get these items, you must buy all the items listed in the description. If the recipe does not cost gold, it means that you just need to accumulate the items in the description, and you don't need to buy the recipe itself. A recipe's power is dictated by the shop it is found in. Going from weakest to strongest, these shops are: the Human Peasant shop, Orc Peon shop, Night Elf Wisp shop, and Undead Acolyte shop.

* Null talisman good for int hero as basic item.

* Bracer good for strength type hero as basic item.

* Wraith band for agi type basic item.

*Avoid wasting your abilities on creeps. Use your skills on heroes to weaken them, and then call for a gank, or gang kill, where your teammate(s) will come from behind them and you will both attack, and hopefully kill the enemy. When an enemy is killed, they lose gold, and you can gain it.

* You will gain experience point when you will able to kill a creeps or you are near a killed creeps.

* Experience point are necessary for your hero to level up. Once you level up you have the privilege to choose one skill every level.

*If your hero is still weak or does not have any strong items do not focus on killing opposing heros, thus focus on destroying towers and killing creeps

* Practice makes perfect. Be aware of the map , study the capabilities of your hero and its limitation.
